WillTravel,
Why be so rude? (Bad day?-I have those too.) Some people don't mind the walk and others may rather walk 2 miles than stay in a dorm!
No one is trying to insist we stay anywhere...someone recommends a place, we look at it and see if it is for us or not. What's the big deal.
For all the miles I know I'll be walking during the day, a mile at night certainly isn't going to kill me.

For heaven's sake, FromAtlanta, that was not a rude question. I am a generally budget traveler trying to determine if that Hampstead Heath B&B is a good choice for me, and I often stay in hostels. I also have no aversion to long walks, but just want to know if it's a safe area to do so at midnight.

I'd never touch a B&B, but if people enjoy suffering a little, then by all means go ahead.

WillTravel,
Maybe it was ME who is having the bad day. I read sarcasm into your post when you were being sincere. - I have a habit of that! Maybe I have been reading too many of m_kingdoms posts!!

Anyway, I appologize ... and I am even able to laugh at myself.

Don't worry, FromAtlanta!

As for mk2, I enjoy reading him/her because I end up speculating about his/her actual self as compared to the persona.

rj007,

I wish you had an email address posted...could you email me? I would like to hear more about that B&B and the area around it.

m kingdom2 - I'm suffering all the way to the bank.

tropo - Thanks for the tips. Your son is fortunate to live in London. I too love Hampstead Heath. While walking through there it is hard to believe you are in a city of 8 million people. You are absolutely right, about coming back to a relaxing area after another great day of sightseeing. Can't wait to get back to my favorite city!

Thanks everyone. I've resolved this question by deciding to stay in central London, but in a self-catering room.

Now that the lodging question is settled, I'll post my next questions as new messages.
