Stay in Pisa or Lucca or Coastal Town?

We want to go to Pisa, Lucca and the coastal area. We would be there for 1 night (two days). Which place would be best to stay at...and do you have any suggestions as to what hotel or B&B to stay at. Thanks!

Midrange being 300 Euro per night? Higher end of midrange being 500 Euro per night?

Look at Palazzo Alexander in town in Lucca--you park in lots at perimeter of the town. Or, a small B&B that has parking on the edge of town is Villa Romantica---a 3 star that is adequate. Lucca is a great mid-size town--have dinner at Buca di San Antonio.

I second dinner at Buca Di Sant Antonio in Lucca. Great atmosphere and food. We also stayed at Palazzo Alexander. Charming, with good location, good breakfast, and Max is wonderful. I hadn't read any comments about noise being an issue, but our room, a standard one in the corner - very small - had paper thin walls and we could hear everything in the next room! If you stay there, maybe go for a suite.
