State employee credit union ATM card oversea
I have a State Employee Credit Union (North Carolina) Visa ATM card. Does anybody know if this card will work in UK and France? ATM machines suppose to have a special mark on them in order to accept this card, but I don't know whether ATMs actually do have this mark (including those at the airports).

Look on the back of your ATM card. There you will see the ATM systems that the card will work on. Some of the main systems are Cirrus, Plus and Pulse. For example my Bank of America ATM card works on Interlink, Plus and Pulse. Also make sure you have a 4 digit numeric PIN number.

It shouldn't be a problem. Johnson Space Center Federal Credit Union and Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union Visa ATM cards have both all over in the past year. Most credit unions are joining alliance networks. Check the website for your CU and their network to see if they have more information that will set your mind at ease.

I'm also a member.
Just look for an ATM with a PLUS logo (most all have it). I was charged $.75 per transaction (better than the $1-2 I'm reading about here) plus the standard 1% conversion fee. I haven't used the ATM card in France, but no problem in the UK.
