Super cool and the purpose of our trip last summer. If you'd like I'll go into more detail later. One thing you have to know though,is that they are not in remote outposts. Instead, villages have grown up around them. Michelin has sufficient info to start. If there's a specific web site, we didn't bother. We knew where we were going and why.

Wow! Four responses in eleven minutes. That's got to be a record. Thanks for he help. We were at Stonehenge and Avebury last fall so it will be neat to compare them. Any ideas on a really interesting place to stay in the area, b&b, chateau, etc? And also, any suggestions for restaurants? Thanks again. I'll check out the website.

We went last summer; the major problem is that direct access is limited to a few tours per day, of which only two (i think) are in English.

They are in four major blocks and there are places you can get up above them to see the panorma of marching stones.

We spent a whole day there, between the stones and the Grand Menhir a few miles away.

Defintely a highlight.

The megaliths are at the north of Carnac, about 10 minutes walk from town centre. I visited the sites last March, probably because of off season,it was free to walk in and out each site.

There are two area to stay in Carnac:the modern ones are on the beach, the old ones in the town. I stayed at "Augerge Le Retelier" : a centuries old coach inn(280F per night). It is well known for the cuisine, fresh local seafood very well cooked and presented.
