The instruction at the calculator site says "The date must be on the following format ddmmyy or dd/mm/yy".
The site also points to the long word explanation of the current rule: http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs..._manual_en.pdf
This discussion brings up how the laws are formulated and interpreted by people from different backgrounds.
One way to structure the law is to follow Deontologism - rule based. With this formulation, a long list of do this/do that steps taken are assumed to prevent/enable defined outcomes. The enforcement is on actions, not the results. The lobbyists love this type of formulation as the actions and the results don't have to match, and they allow for loop holes. This formulation is also easier to implement and enforce even if does not accomplish the original objectives.
Another way to structure the law is to follow consequentialism - results based. With this formulation, the how one gets there is not of interest. It judges the outcome. The current Schengen 90/180 day law is written this way. This allows for many ways to comply with the law. While this type of law enforces the results directly, it suffers from usage difficulties since one has to look at the consequences, not the actions, to see if the results based on intended actions comply/violate the law.

Thanks, Debit-I'll give it a shot. No immediate need for me, but have certainly unintentionally come close on past experiences as I understood the law a bit differently then the way its explained. So good to know for future.
Cowboy-thanks for putting the calculator out there.
