Oh, Lordy, Patty, that sounds superb, too. No, I don't NEED to spend more money, but it is an occasion that warrants throwing caution to the winds. I am putting L'Auberge du 15 on my "must do this trip" list.

I think I am Patty's trusted friend. We went to l'Auberge du 15 for dinner this May, and it was hands-down our favorite meal of the trip. Not sure I'd call the atmosphere anniversary-worthy (dining room is small and sedate), but the food was incredibly delicious and the service impeccable. Two young brothers--twins--are in the kitchen and they are doing some very impressive work. My mom later told me "That was the best meal I've ever had." Sure, she probably said that because her darling daughter took her there, but it was indeed very good.

Have had lunch at Le Cinq and it is fab. Also visited La Grande Cascade for lunch this last trip (best in warm weather to sit on the terrace, IMO), and it was very, very beautiful and relaxing...but I wanted to eat off the more expensive menu. I had had lunch there a couple of years ago, also in May. Gorgeous, Belle Époque Paris.

Happy anniversary!

Thank you, Leely! We certainly will do our best. But of course we are now caught on the horns of a dilemma between the extremes of Iras' wonderful Taillevent recommendation, and your more moderately priced but equally satisfying suggestion.

Oh, what a lovely situation to be in! Perhaps I will choose the easy way and try them all -- hang both the budget and my arteries!

nuke - if you like wine, my preference would be for the Taillevent to try their food and wine pairings.

once you add the cost of a decent bottle of wine to the cheaper options they might not be much cheaper, plus you won't have the chance to try different wines that are suited to each dish.

Hi Nukesafe
Congrats on your anniversary and another great trip to Paris. We were in the apt. above you (as you may remember) last May. Have a great trip and I look forward to the TR. CJ

Of the places on your original list, my top recommendation would be Le Grand Vefour. The tables are not widely separated. Love the history of the place. (We've enjoyed Colette's table.)

La Grande Cascade is another excellent suggestion.
