Spain or London for Spring Break?
Hello,
Planning second trip to Europe next year with two teens.
Read that London or Madrid/Seville are recommended for spring vacations . We’d be traveling first part of April for 9-10 days.
Obviously Spain would be the logical choice if warmer weather was the primary consideration.
Any opinions from those who’ve visited either during April ?
thanks

You have 9 or 10 days? Then you need to decide whether you have enough time for what you want to see and experience in Andalusia, which can easily take 10 days or more (not counting Madrid).
Time to hit the library or buy some guide books!

Weather, that is not a logical idea to base your vacation on.
It is parable and totally unpredictable. Weather history chars can be found, but what do they prove? Only what has occurred in the past. The results are given based upon statistics. How these statistics are collated is any ones guess.
The tow cites are like chalk and cheese.
It is really a decision you are going to have to take. Go on be brave!

OK, so it is pouring rain but you decided there is this museum you simply have to visit. It will be dry inside. I'm in Madrid as I write this and I'd like to know who said that Madrid/Seville are recommended for Spring Break and more importantly, why.

It was U. S. News & World Report.
https://travel.usnews.com/rankings/b...ing-vacations/
London was 1 and Madrid 2. actuslly Lisbon was numbe 10 on their list.
Why Lisbon or Nice for the person who suggested those two? I’ve heard good things about Lisbon and that it has kind of a San Francisco feel to it. Heard from another there’s not much to do there compared to some other cities although the food is great.
Their winter list had Rome at #1 which helped influence our decision to travel to Italy last December and it was a great time. Seville was number 6 on their winter destinations.

I realize the limitations of these lists. I realky have no interest in Dubai... yet. Heard from a friend it’s an exciting place.
But for us visiting Rome was in Winter (along with Florence and Venice) turned out great. Particularly the thinner crowds.

The reality is that London and Madrid/Spain have a fair bit to offer at any time of the year. I would choose based on which has stuff you want to do and ignore weather as a variable. Neither are going to be fun and sun destinations.
Personally, I prefer London to Spain.

London has so much to see even if weather isn’t good. We went fhere for spring break in early April and it snowed. The upside was that no one was venturing outside and we had The Tower of London almost to ourselves. I love Madrid and Seville too; you can’t make a bad decision.

Lisbon is one of my favorite cities. I have no trouble finding things to do, including day trips to Belem and Sintra/Cascais/Estoril. You might include Obidos or Evora, or split your time between Lisbon and Porto.
Nice is great base for day trips as well as a nice place to chill out before the summer crowds.
Click on my name and then my profile for my TRs for Lisbon and Nice.
I pay little attention to those kind of lists, they are click bait and filler, at best a starting point for more research. Of course, they do help to keep the crowds in the same places. What are YOU looking for in your destination? Museums? Art? Architecture? Markets? Food? Cafes? Etc. etc.

Forget rankings as you'll see zillions of differing ones. Where did you go last time?
I'd suggest Italy - Venice - Florence - Rome - the classic Italian tour - Fly to Venice - 3 nights - train to Florence - 3 nights - train to Rome 4 nights. Anyway no matter where you go trains are great to go between cities - forget any notion about cars. Even if base in a place like London trains would take you to nearby places - expereincing trains are great - often going up to nearly 200 mph in Italy and many countries. Anyway for loads on European trains and where to go in each country check www.seat61.com; BETS-European Rail Experts and www.ricksteves.com.
And London could easily be twinned with Paris - the Eurostar bullet train connects them in little more than 2 hours. Fly into London and out of Paris - weather will be springlike but flowers and trees will be out - you know 'springtime in Paris' - anyway forget lists.
