Spain in December 99-10 days where should I go? Resort in Mallorca or travel Seville-Granada-Barcelona??HELP

HI -I'm going to Spain for the first time in December, 10 days vacation. Traveling from Eastern Canada. What's the warmest area of Spain in December. ( hoping for 20c temps) Am I going to hit a lot of rain? There are lots of deals to Malaga? What's it like? Can I get a combo of beach and scenery without being too commercial this time of year. I'm also thinking Seville for a couple days, granada and then Barcelona? I'm looking for a suggested itinerary and am kinda torn between taking a package deal and planning my own route. Want a bit of scenery, hiking, good food, wine . Would prefer to avoid the large cities and commecialism. Am willing to rent car. Any suggestions?? Thanks Angela!!

I would take the Seville-Granada-barcelona option as there is a lot to see and do in each of those places. I don't think it will be warm enough for the beach and from what I hear the beach areas are not very desirable.

Angela, We were in Mallorca in the winter and it can get very chilly. Seville should be warmer. There are beaches all the way up the coast; the prettiest are on the Costa Brava - off from Barcelona - eg. Tossa del Mar. But, except in the south, it probably won't be warm enough for swimming. There is lots of lovely countryside around Granada and villages eg. Ronda. Malaga is a good starting point and probably best to stay around there, rather than trying to take in Barcelona as well - the distances are quite long; it took us two days to drive Barcelona to Granada. Have a good trip.

Angela, Even the coast of Spain will be
chilly this time of year--forget the beaches. However, you are missing the real advantage of December travel in a
Catholic country---the holiday pagentry.
In 10 days you really have time for only
Andalusia and the ingress from Madrid.
Have a great experience in these cities
for 10 days: TOLEDO--SEVILLE--RONDA--
NERJA---GRANADA--back to MADRID. I would
skip Barcelona on this trip since it is
too far to fit this itinerary.

We are doing 10 days in December in Spain. 2 days in Barcelona, then fly to Granada, then 2 nights in Granada, rent a car, 2 nights in Sevilla, drive through Cordoba to Toledo, a few nights, then to Madrid for 2 nights. The flight from Barcelona wasn't too expensive, and allowed us to cut down on the travel time.

The others are right - Mallorca's beaches will be too cool to swim and might be down right cold. Make sure you spend several days in Barcelona. It's one of the world's great cities and has wonderful museums, shopping, FOOD!!, people. It's big but, like most European cities, easy to navigate on foot.
