Spain for four weeks, rough idea, please help with suggestions

Thank you in advance!
Four Australians in their prime!! (late 50's early 60"s) have 4 weeks in Spain and 1 week on Mallorca.
Our interests range from nature (hiking, white water rafting, adventures) ; history; architecture; food and drinking; culture and meeting locals.
We will be hiring a car.
Thoughts:
Barcelona
San Sebastian
LLanes
Santiego de Compostela
Guardo
Salamanca
Caceres
Seville
Ronda
Nerja
Granada
Costa del Sol
Madrid

Any advice would be kindly considered.

Thank you, Kym

Yes, great question by danon. Time of year can mean everything.

Don't forget Cordoba, Malaga. Also Toledo which you can do as a day trip from Madrid or overnight there.

I love, love Andalusia but anywhere in Andalusia and Caceres will be blazing hot in June. If you include any of these places, please be sure to get hotels with pools. Drink plenty of water, use sunscreen, and wear hats.

I think you would be better off visiting Barcelona, San Sebastián, and other places in northern Spain instead of southern Spain.

I agree completely with KarenWoo. It would be far more pleasant to spend those 4 weeks in Northern Spain, or exploring from Barcelona to Santiago de Compostela.

It can be extremely hot here in the month of June. It´s 32 C at my house today, 38 C in Córdoba, 36 C in Sevilla and 34C in Cáceres between noon and 6 pm. Sometimes it's even dangerously hot when there is a red alert. This is why I avoid Extremadura and Andalucía from June until late September.
As KarenWoo knowns, it can even be very hot in Sevilla in early October.

Touring in the intense summer heat of southern Spain is just no fun and can really, really slow you down. Even with the precautions of sun screen, hats, water bottles and retreating during the hottest part of the day to your hotel pool, it can be extremely uncomfortable, and you may very well end up seeing far less than you had hoped.
