CDG is a pit. Just get to your next gate and don't leave anything else to chance.
Passports are largely computer scanned, so you may have to ask for the stamp when entering and exiting the UK. The agent may look at you funny, but who cares - you won't see him/her again.

Sorry. Clearly confused by 0500 arrival in Dublin from Boston. No coffee or tea on plane, none in arrivals, unlike FCO.
We were arriving in Europe (passport stamped) then immediately (5 meters) entered security because we were also transit passengers for Gatwick. Arrived Gatwick. UK border control did not require form laboriously filled out on orders of authorities in the Republic. Passport stamped again. Out the Green Lane, Bob's your uncle. Passport stamped again by French at St Pancras International before boarding Eurostar. Following week, exit stamp at CDG. Another entry stamp in Irish Republic, perhaps? Certainly security again, since we were in transit. Then entry stamp in Boston because Dublin pre clearance for US only open for JFK. Have I confused that as well?
Much chagrin as I am one of those who has spent so much time in the UK (not Europe, not EU) that I cannot donate blood in US because of BSE. Is that enough initials?
Head hung in shame. But as Uncle Matthew always said, "Abroad is bloody."

It's 90 days in the 180 days from first entry into Schengen - so you could enter Schengen, leave the next day, enter again the following day and so on for 180 days.
The UK issues UP TO 6 months and it's cancelled as soon as you leave the UK (well unless you go to Ireland) and you apply for re-entry when you return.

In these days of increasing electronification, I'm wondering who will be the first country to offer special souvenir stamps for passports - with the appropriate fee, in a separate queue, of course......

I think when you fly through to another ache hen zone you may go through passport control because it is your place of entry to the schengen...like when you fly to Canada or the USA and have a connecting domestic flight. The first point of entry is where you clear passport control and customs. But if you are just in transit and not entering the country proper then you stay airside. That's my experience anyways...

Yes, lincasanova, when entering Schengen you would normally go through passport control at the first port of entry, in your case CDG. Adam will be transiting to a non-Scehengen country, so would stay airside.

I am finding this post a little late, but hope you get to read it in time. I am also a dorky American and love my passport stamps like a badge of honor
We were in the Paris airport for a short time and didn't require a passport stamp...but of course I asked an official walking by if it could be done. And yes! There is an office that will stamp it for you. So if you have extra time, ask any one that looks like they might be able to help, and they will direct you. Good luck!
