South France in April

Is it better to drive or take a train for this trip? Any recommended routes? Interested in chateaux, churches, museums and small villages. Will have 10 days. A train trip that we take every two days to several different places.

Thank you!!

Impossible to say without knowing where you are going in the South of France, but generally the train is a better option when visiting places along the coast, while for small villages and chateaux inland, it's better to have a car.

Many thanks. Never been to any place but Paris. Was interested in maybe the smaller towns. Or is it better to stay one place centrally and drive out ?

Shooting for April 2015

raugravine - there are many threads about the SoF by a fodorite called Stu Dudley, who has been many times. He even has routes that he will send you by e-mail.

Your question is far too general and vague for anyone to give you any suggestions on.

I suggest that you FIRST do your own research on where you would like to go and what you would like to see/do and then ask for comments on YOUR plan.

With only 10 days, I would not suggest stopping in more than 2 places. You can do a day trip to somewhere from each in that amount of time. Moving every 2 days as it seems you are suggesting, simply results in a lot of time lost to moving and far less time spent IN places seeing/doing things.
