Sorrento webcam
Anyone know the current status of the Sorrento webcam I used to read about with regularity on this site? A friend is traveling to Italy using Sorrento as a base next month and so I'm curious about any updated experiences people here may have had with the webcam, if it still exists? Thanks!

It seems to still be working.

Thank you kybourbon. I just clicked on the link you provided, and the pic of the webcam, and there seems to be a story there. You now have to register to use it, it seems, and they must make the picture less clear than before? Hmm....I didn't register to check it out, but the muddy night picture on my screen at the top of that story isn't at all encouraging.

Does anyone still watch the Sorrento webcam? Since you have to register (I haven't) was wondering whether it gets as many viewers as it used to.
For those who are unfamiliar w/ this webcam, here's the history ....... http://www.slowtrav.com/italy/campan...nto_webcam.htm

When really wanting to see what's going on over there, I use this - which has an almost live view of Piazza Tasso....

Here on Ischia we've a much nicer collection.... with Sorrento nicely lost somewhere in the background of one or two:

Peter,
Thanks for sharing those links, however, thus far I've been unable to pull up any views via the webcam on the Ristorante site (http://www.ristorantecanonico.com) .... will keep trying, maybe it's having an off day.
Years ago, I used to frequently watch "the action" of the Piazza thru the Sorrento Info link .... because that webcam is (or was?) attached relatively low, you could easily watch the comings & goings of people. I think there were several Fodorites who gave a heads-up prior to strolling through Piazza on a specific day, waved at camera at those of us lurking/watching on the website.

Don't know what you're using, but that one certainly seems happier with a recent version of Firefox than IE8...
Also not very hi-res, but refreshes every second or two - and looks ideal for restaging the cover of "Abbey Road"?
