Sorrento in Winter? Good idea??

Unfortunately, we only have time to travel to Italy in the winter time. Is it OK to travel to Sorrento sometime in November - January? Has anyone been to Sorrento over the winter season? We have read that many places close down. Is that true?

We hope to use Sorrento as a base for going to other areas (Pompei, Positano, etc)

Hi Kitty - Sorrento is a commuter town with a large resident population - so it never closes down.

It's a convenient transport hub for the places you want to visit.

To find hotels which are open in winter I suggest you contact the Sorrento tourist office:

Hope this helps ...
