Sorrento

My husband and I will be in Sorrento for 5 days this month and we will be going on tours to Capri, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi, Naples and Pompeii. We will have two free days. Can we do a day trip to Tuscany? Any other suggestions? Any recommendations for restaurants in Sorrento? Thanks.

Consider including Herculaneum in your tours from Sorrento. I had some great meals in Sorrento, but unfortunately I did not keep the restaurant names. Big mistake. You will love every place you have listed to visit. I can't answer your question about going to Tuscany, but someone on this board will. Safe and happy travels. That area of Italy is incredible. Hello Blanche,

I'd second Herculaneum. Another good option is Paestum. Or Caserta. Or Ischia. Or Procida. Or ...

Tuscany would be a VERY long day-trip. Where did you have in mind?
Sorrento-Rome is 3 hours minimum.
Rome-Florence is another 1.5 hours minimum.
Not really feasible IMO ...

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve

You could spend one day at Capri, one day at Pompeii and Herculaneum, one day at Positano, one day in Naples and one day in Sorrento for your 5 days.

Be sure to check out the English Inn for a good breakfast in Sorrento, tuscany is about 5-6 hours away from sorrento....and also, the Merry Monk, great places to people watch as they are both on the main strip-

If you plan on going into Naples by train (much easier), check this site: http://www.nsa.naples.navy.mil/panorama/mergellina.html. It will give you a list of what to see in Naples using the Metropolitana, their version of a subway.
