Sopron, Hungary

I'm finding very little on this town. The distance/location would be a good stop on our trip.

We would be arriving early afternoon, Should it a 1 or 2 night stay?

Those that have visited or know anything of it, please comment.

Thanks!!

Have you checked www.sopron.hu? I thought Sopron was a beautiful town. We were there one afternoon and night, I thought that was enough. It seems to be a popular spot for 'dental tourism'.

Ditto LLC. We stayed at a pension one night on the way from Vienna to Budapest. This permitted a leisurely stop at the nearby Esterhazy palace, as well as Pannahalma (sp) near Gyor that day or the next, prior to Budapest. Without stopping to look at anything, one could probably circuit the central city in 45 minutes, but then what would be the point? Our pension seemed about 2 blocks from the center, and was near a restaurant that seemed popular with the locals (and had excellent food).

I'll also endorse Sopron. If you need to stop overnight somewhere, this is a very nice town to stay in. I enjoyed Sopron, but I will agree that an afternoon and evening there will give you enough of a taste for the town.
