Ooh I didn't know anyone cared about reading my trip report. I was such a beginner in this trip and made a lot of silly mistakes! But I suppose that's what traveling is, right? Doesn't always go the way you plan, but most often makes for a richer experience. I will try to put together a report for those of you who are interested to see how it all went. I guarantee it will take a while to complete but I will it a go! It really was such a great time in my life that I'm already planning my next trip.

sparkchaser, you douchebag, no I didn't die. But I almost did when I laid eyes on the italian polizia!! hoooo-weee! Oh my, gimme gimme.

swoosh35, So glad you did this trip and of course made it home safe and sound. Sure, write us a Trip Report. Doesn't have to be minute by minute, just tell us how things turned out.

Write that trip report! It takes time, but it helps you to remember. Incredible as it may now seem - in 3 months time things start to become a little vague. It also helps you to know what you may do a bit differently next time. There will be a next time - right?

I didn't think it was a fake. Why on earth would someone reference "Air New Zealand" in a fake report?

(Thanks for posting that part Swoosh, I now have a new low cost carrier to check out.)

Also if they won't let you post here, post your report at slowtrav.com so those of us who want to read about your adventures can continue to do so.

Swoosh35 is gone -- she has just re-registered as swooshed. The TR was a fake rialto girl. It was VERY entertaining. But there was a long discussion (probably after the last time you read it) and it was mostly a romance novel fake. Just tooooooo many inconsistencies and outright lies.

Swoosher35 is still registered. I'm not so sure the trip report was fake, embellished definitely, but the travel information was fairly accurate. I know I couldn't write a TR 5 months after a trip without inaccuracies. That is why I usually do not write them.

As they say in the insurance business, everyone has their own version of the truth.

I didn't take it as a fake and I don't care if it was embellished. It was a lot of fun.

It seems to me it would be very difficult to know (100%) that a trip report was pure fiction. As long as the travel information is accurate, how does fictitious embellishment harm anyone? Romance fiction readership is one of the strongest market segments in publishing. Frankly, unless the OP requested the report removed, I'm a bit surprised that Fodor's would delete it. Again, how could the editors possibly prove it was all fake? I'm just not seeing it. (But keep in mind, I did not read the report word-for-word.)

Around 11:10 AM, I clicked on the OP's username, and Fodor's "Page Not Found" page came up, claiming the profile no longer exists. When you click now, it shows the OP's profile with just this post. Strange happenings none of us may ever understand. All anyone on the outside can do is speculate.

ditto, Judy and rialtofrl.

Some people seem to think that the trip report was a fake because they say it's a fake. Saying it doesn't make it so. I don't know whether it was fake or not, but I enjoyed reading it and am still keeping an open mind. Swoosh's travel tale was certainly outlandish, but then so was some of the supposed "proof" offered by her detracters. For example, one poster proclaimed that the report was clearly fake because swoosh talked about eating ice cream at Berthillon and Berthillon is closed in August. Well it's clear above that swoosh was leaving home near the end of August (Aug 21 post), and she spent several days in London, so Berthillon would have been open by the time she got to Paris.

Oh well... I've spent way too much time on this.

I also read where someone couldn't believe she had ice cream at Berthillon 20 times, when swoosh had said she had it 10 times. Even if she had it 20 times, I wouldn't think it was too weird, not with the size of the scoops at Berthillon.
