Hi
my story, good bad or indifferent..
Try as I might, I just cannot get jaded about flying. not just as a means to travel, to get there... but the flying itself. I love airports - the hustle bustle, the romance of "where is everyone going, where are they from...".. I even enjoy reading the adverts when I am in a foreign airport. My favorite park in the metro DC area is right at the tip of the National airport runway - I could watch the planes land until the cows come home. It just fascinates me.
a second aspect for my handle is that I am working towards a private pilot's license. what the hell, it's in my blood after all - my Dad was a private pilot until he got grounded for medical reasons. My cousin works for the airlines and is also a private pilot - he has a Cessna 152. My uncle also is a private pilot, he owns a Piper Cherokee and is a part owner of a Cessna Skyhawk.
I've flown with him a few times and in the Skyhawk was lucky enough to fly left seat - mainly symbolic at this point but still a very heady experience. (this is a plane I aspire to, and hence my email - [email protected]).
life is too short not to experience all that you can.

Because I'm a native California girl, and my name is Susan. In college I had a friend who used to always say, "Susan you're such a Calgirl". I always thought she said "cowgirl" until one day I questioned her why she thought I was a cowgirl, and she couldn't stop laughing.

I've been posting here for a couple of years with just my name and my e-mail address, which indicates I live in Shanghai.
I originally just registered my name, but then realized that since my e-mail address wouldn't show, it wasn't distinct enough. So I had to wait 3 days for the first one to expire, which means I didn't get a gift!
Now I'll NEVER know how to pack!

Cause my friends would protest that I was the coolest high maintenance chic they knew and nicknamed me the "diva." I'm not sure it was always meant as a compliment. In any case though, it's grown on me.

Ron was already taken. My wife bought two dolls from Scotland and they have little tags that have names on them. This is supposed to be the Gaelic equivalent of my name.

Strive (in addition to being positive) is actually my last name with two of the letters transposed. In reality it is part of my e-mail address and I've used it here ever since my previous internet provider (qwest.net)went the way of the Dodo.
I also chose it because I thought it would make it easier to conduct searches. Of course, that was before they implemented the new search feature.
