Oh it has been awhile since I tangled with the SNCF website but todayI am looking for a fare from Aix (TGV) to CDG on Oct. 12 - I am using the French version of the website. Now what I think I see is (oo la la) a OUIGO fare of 10E per person on the train departing around 17:00 (Over 60 fare) can that be right???? Is booking with AMEX a problem these days. I am nervous about the website but if that is the fare - wow!

Ouigo is the low cost version of the TGV
Never taken it myself but heard it is ok - be on time they need time to board and there maybe limitations on luggage
But yes 10 euros seems normal.
Just jump.
Can't help with Amex - I discarded it again last year due to too many refusals ..

and are there 2 different end point choices? CDG and something like CDGTGVT2? I assume either works?

iDTGV is a bargain-priced service on only certain main lines. As I understand it, several extra cars are added to the regular train.
OUIGO is an SNCF bus service.

It's probably too early to book regular fares in October but advance bargains sometimes come around. You can enroll in SNCF's newsletter to see them.

I don't think OUIGO's are buses.

Would someone do a dummy check for me? that is why I gave the exact date and time but I am now also looking on Captiantraine? and seeing the same fare.

I think you are confusing OUIBUS (bus operated by SNCF) and OUIGO (trains).

"are there different trains used for OUIGO's?"There is no first class and no bar. Seats are slightly smaller than on regular TGHV's. There is a €2 charge for electyric plugs. You have to be at the station 30 minutes before departure.

CGGTGVT2 : the station is whithin the airport, Terminal 2.

Answering some of my own questions - yes there are OUIGO buses and trains! but we are booking a OUIGO train and I am feeling more confident of the OUIGO fare being offered.

Now has anyone traveled on one of these trains? I have read they are refurbished double decked RER's? Comfortable? assigned seat? and you can choose between family areas or "quiet compartment"? can we put 4 in the quiet space?

Still not sure about luggage - seeing one carryon - any size? and a handbag.

I'm holding a 1st class TGV ticket for Avignon to Paris on Sat July 1. Price was 38E. If you want fewer restrictions, perhaps a more comfortable train, and 1st class - wait until August 11 6:05PM EDT US to purchase your ticket.

After more research, I think I may do as you suggest Stu. I know our bags will be too big for the size restriction I found and it does sound as if the seating might not be as comfortable. But 10E - what a bargain!

Ouigo is a cut-rate train service,a budget airline on rails. Be careful - there are check-ins and baggage restrictions of the budget airline type you don;t normally expect to find applying to easy-going train travel. So read all the small print carefully. www.ouigo.com

Personally I'd stick to the regular TGVs where normal service applies!
