Smoking Prohibites in Restaursants in B-Württemberg

Has anybody noticed this? Since the beginning of this month, smoking is prohibited in all Restaurants in Württemberg. How does it feel "going out" in Stuttgart now?

In Baden, too, not only in Württemberg! Can't tell about Stuttgart. The pubs in Karlsruhe feel wonderful, though.

Finally!!!!! What a relief.

Some witty innkeepers have put up beer tents inside their pubs because smoking in beer tents isn't prohibited. Authorities are struggling what to do...

Cigarettes and Cigars; for non-smokers, as different as pussycats and cougars. Cigars should be enjoyed on the privacy of one's own twenty acre estate and banned in public areas, inside and out!

But any car "stinks" more than a cigar at any given time. I find tons of carbon black and rubber parts on my balcony every week. Cars should be prohibited in public areas too!

All right. Since I don't have and don't need a car, that's okay with me.

We visited the area between Würzburg and München the last two years. I have been telling my wife that we ought to visit Baden-Württemberg next time. She was not too resistant as she live there (Stuttgart area and Schwäbischhall) as a child (Army Brat). No smoking restaurants just about makes it certain that our next visit will be to B-W. Thanks for the heads-up.

Regards, Gary

BTW, the other German states will follow with anti-smoking laws beginning of next year.

3 Länder have already taken action: Baden-Württemberg, Niedersachsen and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. More will follow soon, most, like Bavaria, from Jan 1, 2008. The blue fog is lifting!

It's just lovely! Yet another reason for me to love Stuttgart and Baden-Wuerttemberg...

I wonder how this affects quiet hours?

I know that in Heidelberg, all the doors and windows on my favorite pubs HAD to close by 2200 so as not to disturb the neighbors and the bar remains open til 0100 or 0300, depending on the night.

Typically, smokers head out to the street in between drinks. I wonder if there will be more problems because of this. Here, in Central MA, it doesn't seem too bad when people go outside to smoke (in pairs or threes), because there aren't as many smokers as there used to be. It seems so many more people smoke in Germany.
