Danella, I just returned from Paris on Friday. I did not stay at Hotel du Globe in Saint Germain but I stopped in to see it and see a couple of the rooms. Very quaint and charming, filled with antiques, and a room with bathtub is 655FF (about $92)A room with shower ranges 430 to 545 and breakfast is an extra 55 FF each. It is small, only 15 rooms and in a good location, but it does not have an elevator, if this is important to you. If you are interested, send me an e-mail and I will gladly send to you the brochure they gave me via snail mail. Peg

I fell like a personal publicity agent for my favorite hotel in Paris. The Latour Maoubourg. It has a website. There are only 9 rooms. It is in the 7th right near the Eiffel Tower. Its like staying in someones antique filled home! The price is more like $150 a night though. A good hotel guide for the kind of place you're looking for is "Cheap Sleeps in Paris". The author has pictures and good descriptions of hotels throughout Paris.

This month''s National Geograpahic Traveler magazine has an article about 22 hotels in Paris with charm for under $100 a night. Many of them are ones I've heard raves about time and time again from people on this message board and others.

Hi Peg. On a previous trip to Paris I stumbled on the Hotel du Globe and, like you, stopped in to check it out. I couldn't look at any rooms since they were fully booked at the time, but the rest of the hotel looked very charming, not to mention the super location for the price. I'm hoping to stay there on my next trip to Paris.

But it's also at all the major bookstores and on the web as well (though I don't know if the web has all the articles for nonsubscribers). <BR>
