I was thinking about the slow food in restaurants, where they use local produce and wine and the meal is long and slow. In Tuscany this can be heaven.

There is nothing wrong with eating at McDonalds if that is what you like, go for it.

You couldn't use US beef in the burgers in Europe in any case as it is classified as carcinogenic toxic waste and is banned as unfit for human consumption.

I don't seek out fast food but on the other hand, taking time to have several courses is not always a luxury you have if you're trying to pack as much possible on limited vacation time.

I guess if you're a foodie and want to savor the food and experience, that's fine. But other people prefer to do other things than spend 2 hours or more for a meal.
