Slovenia weather in August?
Greetings! My family (two adults and two boys, ages 9 and 5 by then) will be in Europe for a wedding next August and would like to find a great place to spend a week following the festivities. I love the idea of Slovenia because it sounds as though we could really see a lot of the country in that time, and I enjoyed reading about the wonderful farm stays, etc.
However, I'm curious about the weather (specifically the humidity) at that time of year. I realize that it's August and will therefore be hot just about anywhere, but I'm wondering if any of you have been there during the summer and found it particularly oppressive. (Just as a frame of reference, home for us is Portland, Oregon, USA, where it's not very humid and generally pretty temperate...although not today. )
Any words of wisdom are most welcome!

I was in Slovenia early September last year and it was beautiful weather. I'm from north eastern Canada so I too am not used to hot and humid. You will absolutely love Slovenia, the capital is quaint and Lake Bled - amazing. Enjoy.

I was in Slovenia first week of this month. It was not very humid, nothing like Greece and Turkey. Pleasantly warm (around 25°C), and it cooled down in the evenings. BUT that was a stormy week. It rained quite often (but not for long), there was thunder, and a real tornado that destroyed houses and crops.

The weather should be gorgeous and not too hot. A heat wave will bring it close to 40 but it will usually be around 30 and not too humid.
If it does get too warm for you, head to the Soca River Valley which is beautiful and cool. Also, other places in the Julian Alps will provide some relief. The coast will be super crowded and the islands, almost unbearable due to the swarms of tourists.
Check out the movie Prince Caspian for scenes shot in the Soca River Valley. Also, Heidi was shot in Ljubljana, and the Julian Alps.
Enjoy! We lived there for 4 years and really enjoyed it.
