Slovenia and Croatia

We are looking at going from Venice to Trieste by train and then hiring a car to go to Bled . After Bled we are going to head to Zagreb and spend some time in Croatia. Would like to see Dubrovnik, Hvar (possibly one more island) Split , Pula area and Plitvice Lake National Park. We have about 12 days. Is this do able or are we trying to fit to much in? Any help would be very appreciated.

It sounds like too much for one trip. We are planning 10 days in Slovenia (Ljubljana and Bled) and Istria and even that much seems somewhat ambitious to me.

We drove Zagreb to Split and its a nice drive. It's scenic and gives you a good sense of the country. Especially the areas that still have signs of the war that occurred there. It was a full day's drive though. We also took the coast road from Split up to the Dalmatian peninsula and while it was absolutely beautiful it was a hard winding drive with few places to stop.

I think you are planning too much as well. Maybe skip Zagreb and Bled this time as both are out of your way and focus on the coast. Or consider missing Dubrovnik and Split (but I wouldn't).
