Sloan Square to Gatwick: JustAirports or walk to Victoria and take train?
We'll be staying in a flat near Sloan Square this september. We have a 10:30 flight from Gatwick. I would like to be at the airport no later than 8:30am. Would we be better off time and traffic wise to take a cab to Victoria and then a train, or splurge for the door to door convenience of an airport transfer? Cost difference for two is 20 pounds train + cab vs. 40lbs airport transfer. I guess my biq question is whether the traffic is so bad at that time of day that we'd be best off taking the train. Thanks for any advice.

Even though the traffic will be coming in the opposite direction at that time of day (ie into London), it wouldn't be very pleasant by car service. Just get a taxi to the station.
And you don't have to use GEX as the Southern commuter trains will be empty heading out of London, are almost as quick & cost a LOT less

Definitely the train - how you get TO Victoria is up to you depending on the weather, amount of luggage etc. But definitely the train.
A car service will be awful and likely take at least an hour longer than a taxi/train or the tube/train.

If your luggage is so slight that you could contemplate walking to Victoria, you could take a bus - 239, 211 or 11. You'd be leaving the flat at around 7.30am, so chances are the buses might not have got too crowded. But a taxi would be more convenient.
