Sleat Peninsula

Hi all

It's been a long time since posting, we have cancelled so many trips because of this stupid virus. Have booked some accomodations for another Scotland trip, late June through mid-July. Cautiously optimistic!

When leaving Waternish on the way to Port Appin I thought we would drive the route down the Sleat Peninsula, staying one night, then take the ferry to Maiiaig and drive to Port Appin via Glenfinnan.

Top scenic drives on Sleat, museums, historic sites? Hotel recommendations?

Thanks in advance
Wrenwood

My go to website is always Undiscovered Scotland. Have a look at the map here and click on the place names for the text pages with lots of pictures and information about what to see/do.

You'd drive all the way to Armadale then detour up to Tarskavaig - there really isn't a reasonable alternative. The only other road cuts over from the A851 below Isleornsay to Tokavaig/Tarskavaig and is extremely narrow/slow. Unless you just want to add a night I wouldn't stay over (UNLESS you can get a night at Hotel Eilean Iarmain which is a destination in and of itself)

Waterrnish to Armadale would take the best part of 2 hours and Mallaig to Port Appin is another maybe 2.5 hours. If you want to break the journey I'd wait till you are back on the mainland like Ft William or Ballachulish - but by then you are almost to Port Appin.
