Skye accommodations

Can anyone recommend a B&B or hotel on Skye? I am looking for two rooms for two couples in August, and am finding little availability.

Thanks for all suggestions.

What is your budget? August is the busiest time on Skye so you may have a problem finding someplace w/ two rooms available fair two nights . . .

Check the sligachan - it is a bit larger and is in the most central location on the island.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have sent an e-mail asking them about availability.

Budget is flexible, I'd take a look at any suggestions and forward them to my friend for consideration.

I stayed at Eilean Iarmain Hotel (loved it) and Toravaig House (did not love it). Both are located close to each other, on the Sleat Peninsula. That location was a bummer. I was mostly hiking on the Trotternish Peninsula, and that was a lot of driving back and forth every day. The drive home after a late dinner at Three Chimneys was especially wearying.

Sligachan would have been a better location. Portree would have been even more centrally located, for my purposes, but I don't think I'd want to stay right in Portree.

True - definitely for your purposes on the Trotternish. But for the island as a whole, Sligachan is just about the most central/easiest base for touring around.

I've stayed at both Eilean Iarmin and Toravaig as well as Duisdale. Loved all of them. Actually had à better meal Toravig than at the Three Chimneys. Well, just as good.

I also love the Sleat Peninsula but if you'd spending most of your time on the Trotternish, then it isn't convenient. Have never had a problem driving around the Isle. Beautiful scenery every where you look.

Wife and friend enjoyed Kinloch Lodge in Sleat.

OP doesn't need to be near Trotternish, someone else did. Daughter and I have stayed outside Portree in a [name long gone] B&B we found through the tourist office.

Driving easy except for sheep on road and Germans pulling caravans.

Last time we were on Skye we stayed at the Marmalade Hotel just outside the town. It was OK for the 3 nights that we were there.

Thank you for all the suggestions, I am following them all up.

So far I have heard from Sligachan, Carters Rest, and Eilean Iarmain that they are fully booked. Toravaig and Duisdale have limited rooms available if I change my dates a bit, not sure if that will work for us.

Just wrote off to Kinloch Lodge and Marmalade.

As I mentioned >>you may have a problem finding someplace w/ two rooms available fair two nights . . .<<

You are going at the busiest time of the whole year. It might mean having to stay in two different B&Bs one night each - one towards the north/Portree end and on at the south/Armadale end.

Or possibly two different B&Bs - one for each couple. Not ideal of course but an option. Two nearby hotels/B&Bs in Portree for instance.

Yes, I have been considering those options as well.
