Aaron,

I've used skyauction.com five times - twice to Munich, once to London, once to Paris, and one cruise. They add an additional tax & security charge. You just have to know your own personal limit to bid. Friday evening closing bids seem to average better prices. I'm very satisfied -- got some great deals.

I used them before they changed the pricing structure - they used to have auctions for "East Coast to Paris" or somesuch, but now it is only from 3-4 hub cities, then any other city is an additional charge, plus the airport/sc, etc. I can't win a low enough bid to get out of Florida (not Miami), so not good use of effort for me. I will say on our 6-night Amsterdam trip in March 2000 everything was well-handled, with nice 3*** hotel near Leidseplein - we paid about $720 pp for the air+hotel. I don't think that's a rock-bottom price but it was fair for Continental and AMS Hotel Terdam.

I've used it 4 times for flight to Dublin and Belfast.

Flights to London typically end up getting bid above what you'd pay to an airline directly. People seem to forget to factor in taxes, and the extra fees if you're not departing from one of the designated airports.

There have been posts on this before. Do a search.
