Sitges beach suggestions

Anyone have any suggestions for low key beaches for a day trip in Sitges Spain? Also, the best beach to go to in Barcelona.

I don't know why it only just occurred to me that I''ll be spending a month in Barcelona during their hottest month, but I might just end up at the beach more than I realized. Any suggestions?

Definitely go to the beach a lot when it's really hot, but don't go to the beach right off of las ramblas, the nicer beach is farther north (you walk along the beach and then cross over a bridge - you'll pass a number of clubs like Opium Mar and Shoko). Most of the city isn't too active during the hottest parts of the day (the famous siesta), while not everybody naps, things definitely slow down. The heat also won't be that bad if you try to adjust to the time schedule there. You eat lunch around 2, then dinner closer to 10 (most places will start serving around 8 if you can't wait, and the really touristy spots at 6 but they aren't as good and are more expensive). Go to bars after dinner until around 3am, and then clubs from 3-6am.
Sitges is BEAUTIFUL but be sure to get there relatively early in the day, as it fills up quickly. It's really easy to get there via train, and it'll cost around 10 euro round trip (with metro).
Be sure to put on lots of sunscreen and wear comfortable flats (but not tennis shoes - they make you stick out as a tourist and a prime target for pick pockets).

Thank you for the great suggestions. My AC broke two months ago for two weeks and I thought I was going to die, lol. I'm a bit of a baby about oppressive heat, despite my family being from Trinidad.

Do you know how late the beaches are open? I'm taking classes there for the month and some days I will not be out until evening. A walk along the beach at night wouldn't be out of the question?

Sweetlee, did you mean Sitges? or Barcelona?

I think I'm right in saying- based on a three day stay 10 years ago, that there's basically only one beach in Barcelona itself. As a sole woman, I would not think twice about walking alone on the beach in the evening, although I would be keeping my wits about me. The beach is a family place ( and horribly overcrowded when the sun is shining)

Both really. I'm doing a day trip to Sitges from Barcelona, but I'll be in Barcelona for the month, so I wanted to know which beaches would be less crowded in both places.
