Silly GPS Question

There are no differences between the cigarette lighter voltages in cars in Europe vs. the USA, correct? I just want to confirm that I will be able to plug my GPS in & go. Thanks.

You have to be careful, some European autos have AC rather than DC at the cigarette lighters.

I have never had any difficulty using my GPS in the UK, France, and Germany in rental cars.

Watch out if it's a right-hand drive car, though. The Brits only recently changed from Positive Earth to Negative Ground. Check both under the bonnet and in the boot.

I think it had something to do with their long-term use of l/s/d, which was also recently solved.
