Spent 5 days in Siena and 5 in Lucca last month. Since it was the off season not crowded and plenty to see. But I agree to take one or two day trips to out laying towns. Montalcino,Chianti, Pisa. Siena is fairly large and there's plenty to do. I preferred Lucca. Smaller. Close to Pisa, Cinque Terre.<BR>Fly into Florence if possible and take the bus to Siena. There is a shuttle from the airport every 30 min. to the main bus terminal downtown which is jsut accross the street from the traine station.
