Sicily Tours

Hi,
A friend asked for my help, so of course I'm posting here for advice..
Has anyone used a tour company or recommend one for seeing Sicily. They are looking to go for a week to ten days/nights. Fully escorted tours would be ideal. Thank you in advance.

Paul

We spent 10 days there in 11/05 but drove ourselves. We met 2 couples who were using a driver and they seemed to be able to afford it and enjoyed it. I LOVED driving there. It was a kick.
They can read my thread for some ideas of where we went and stayed. we looped the island counter-clockwise from Palermo to Taormina. there is a link to photos too

Several years ago my women's travel group and I took a fully escorted Globus tour of Sicily which we enjoyed very much. We had a great guide which made it feel more personal. We flew in and out of Palermo, where the bus tour started and ended, and we were on the go the entire time, which was a bit much, but we got to see almost all of Sicily, including a belching Mt. Etna, loved Taormina, had good food and brought back lovely pottery souvenirs. It was a successful trip. We have taken fully escorted Globus tours before and after to other areas of Europe and have always been pleased.

Good Luck,
CJ

After April 6, I will be able to tell you if I recommend the tour company a friend and I are using to go to Sicily, plus Sorrento & Rome. The company is "Grand European Tours." We chose it because it does a week in Sicily, seeing just about everything we thought important, then spends 3 days in Sorrento and 3 in Rome--having been to Rome twice before for a total of 10 days, 3 days will give us a chance to re-visit some favorite places. Trafalgar also has a good trip itinerary--and we would have used them but the dates didn't work for us.

I booked a barge cruise in Eastern Burgundy about 5 years ago, with GET and it certainly met my expectations and the food exceeded them.

I will try and post my thoughts on the GET "Sicily" trip when I return. Maybe someone who has taken one will jump in here and make some comments. Ciao! mhm
