Sicily too hot in July?
My wife and I are having a debate as to whether it will be too hot to visit Sicily in late June or early July. Is it like Mexico, where you can take a siesta during the heat of the day and see sights before or after or is it simply too hot to be enjoyable? This would not be intended as a beach vacation but as a vacation where cultural sights would be seen and some occasional swimming would be done as well.

We spent the last week of June in Sicily this year. It was hot, but not unbearable. (After that we went to Malta -- now that was hot!!) Things did tend to quiet down in the afternoon, (good time for siesta or a cool drink in the shade or by a pool) but mornings and evenings were all extremely pleasant. We stayed in Taormina, Sircusa, Agrigento, and Palermo. All on or near the water, and there were pleasant breezes. But then we live in Florida, so we know all about heat and humidity --which is why we leave here for the summer.
