Should we go out of our way to eat at Paola Bini's restaurant at Villa Gaidello?

Has anyone been there recently? What are the rooms like?

We were there a few years ago and it was WORTH IT! Fabulous! They speak very little english but not to worry as we all speak the language of good food! We also stayed there - rooms are agriturismo - very simple but good enough to lay your head down after her great food and touring the area!

Thanks 'sinnedgh'. Is there enough to do around there (just one afternoon after Sunday lunch)to make staying there worthwhile? It will be March so not very warm. Anyone else with input?
(It is in the town of Castelfranco Emilia between Bologna and Modena.)

And thank you Steve James for Parmigiano tour info. Can't seem to post another message on that posting. There seems to be a limit.

We've been there 3 times. Our last visit was in Oct. Yes, it's worth it to go out of your way for the meal - it's fabulous. There's not much to do in Castelfranco, but you could go to Modena for the afternoon, although on Sunday you'll find most stores closed.
The apartments are quite nice. We haven't stayed in the annex rooms, which are a little way from the main farmhouse. The Sunday lunch will take at least 2 hours, and then you'll be ready for a nice nap. Take the rest of Sunday to relax - you definitely won't need dinner.
Buon appetito !

We went to Bologna while in the area and there is a lot to do and see there! Their "downtown" has a lot of great shops, restaurants, and food markets! The highlight though was still the meals with Paola!

I think it's about 40-45 Euro a person including wine, and after dinner drink. You can email them in English & ask for the exact amount.

Thanks Tommaso.

We are driving from Venice to Tuscany and plan to make il Gaidello the lunch stop in the middle. Sounds like a great place...looking forward to it!!!
