Shorten Venice stay & add Dubrovnik?

I currently have about 2.75 days available for sightseeing in Venice (arrive late wed night and leave sat night) and as part of a reward ticket i'm booking I am able to add a quick stopover in Dubrovnik on route. The result of which would be:

1) 1 night in Dubrovnik or 6 hours of available sightseeing time
2) Reduces Venice sightseeing time by 1 full day to 1.75 days

We can do a quick tour of Dubrovnik in 6 hours not a problem but i'm concerned about losing time in Venice as really we should have at least 2 full days allocated correct? If I change it, we would arrive in Venice on a Thursday at 8pm and depart Saturday at 8pm.
Is it worth losing time in Venice by adding Dubrovnik or forget the idea? Thoughts?
thank you.

I would forget it. I have visited Venice twice for nearly a week each time and would be happy to go back, so obviously I think your time is already short. Plus, Dubrovnik can be super crowded.

Your second version has less in Venice time than you think - (I assume you are flying in). With an 8PM arrival you'll get to the hotel around 10, and then on departure you'll have to leave Venice in the late afternoon. I sure wouldn't cut any time there.

I have been to both and would love to say stop in Dubrovnik, but I would stay in Venice. I have been to Venice several times and sometimes go out of the way for a only few hours stop there, but would not do that for Dubrovnik. There is so much to see in Venice and If you find you have a few extra hours, you could go to one of the little islands like Burano. With extra time, I would choose an afternoon in nearby Vicenza over a stop in Dubrovnik.

As much as I love Dubrovnik, I would recommend you spent more time in Venice, for now. But you definitely need to come back, and give Dubrovnik a chance. At least 3 days. You will be surprised. Enjoy romantic Venice!

Stay in Venice this time - not nearly enough time already. Plan another trip to Croatia - and Slovenia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. Well worth it!
