short layover = problems?

We are flying to Rome on Air France in a few weeks, with a 45 minute layover in Paris. Are we looking for trouble with this short a layover? Should we just assume that our bags will be delayed? Coming back, it's even scarier - British air from Genoa to Paris, a 45 minute layover, then air France back to Boston.

Hi,

goiing to Rome via Paris, the timings are tight but if the Boston?-Paris flight is on time you should make it - your luggage might be another story. If your flight is delayed then you will be put on the next flight.

On the return,, sorry, I did not know that british Air( is thatBritish airways?) flew from Genoa to Paris?

Doug,
not to scare you but I was originally on the same flight (from Boston) and when I went to buy my ticket the Air France ticket agent told me that the connection was too short and that she tried to do it herself a couple weeks before and missed her flight so she put me on the later Paris to Rome flight. I think we get in to Paris at 8:50 and then leave for Rome at 11:00 rather than 9:30. With that said, if you miss the 9:30 flight they just put you on the 11:00 so you might as well try to make the 9:30 and maybe you'll get to Rome 1.5 hours before I do. Just label your bags well with the name of your hotel in rome so Air France can deliver them straight to your hotel if you make the early connection but your bags don't. and I'd throw in your carry on some essentials in case the bags are delayed for more than a few hours.
If your bags don't make it, don't panic, they get there later. Actually, if you can manage to not worry about it, it is kind of nice to not have to shlep them yourself and have them delivered to the hotel for you.

It's real simple. The big issue is what happens if you miss your flight. If there is another with in a few hours, then you take more risk. If not, well...

I just turned down and hour and a half layover for a connection beccause there would have been no flight for another 2 days.
