Venice shops are usually open from 10am until 10-11pm. Some do close from 12-2pm for lunch.

Side note, an iced tea and or a beer at a St. Marks Square cafe will run you at least 9 dollars/drink!!

A gondola ride will set you back at least 70 dollars as much as 110...try the vapretto (water taxi service) for 2.50 euros and ride all day!

best,

But for 2-3 euros you can buy 3 scoops of gelato on a nice size cone in St. Marks at Cafe Aurora and sit down on the steps next to the Florian and listen to great music for the evening!

Hi,
I was in Venice two weeks ago for 3 days and notice that most of the shops close in the afternoon until 15:00 aprox... and are open until aprox 19:00pm... have not seen alot of shops open late (past 20:00).
And yes, gondolas are vey expensive, we purcharse a 72 hours (3 day pass) for the Vaporettos (water bus) for 18 Euro each... it was perferct, we just hopped on and off when ever.. It was Great !!
Have a great time in Venice !!

If you have time try to spend some time away from St Marks and explore the other neighborhoods (PLEASE)
The same items are less expensive and you will really love the less crowded areas!
Also, you can buy vaporetto tickets at many vaporetto stops there are ticket windows

You can purchase the 3-day vaporetto pass (or any other vaporetto pass or ticket)at the ticket booth as soon as you depart the train station. If you are not arriving by train, you can purchase vaporetto tickets at any ticket booth. They are located at all vaporetto stops.

I found that many shut down from 12pm-2pm. It really varies. If you pass by a store you're interested in..go in it then. Don't wait because it may be closed later.

I agree about exploring the back neighborhood shops. It's an enjoyable maze!
