Share Bathroom?

Planning my first trip to Europe. Rooms with shared baths are much cheaper, but is it safe, clean, worth the savings?

Safe? Lock the door.<BR><BR>Clean? The bathroom is cleaned by the same housekeeping staff that cleans your room - if the shared bathroom is dirty, that would suggest a problem with the en-suite rooms as well. Take sandals for the shower, and handi-wipes if you're concerned about hygiene.<BR><BR>Worth the savings? Only you can decide that.

How old are you? How numerous are your nightime visits? When I first went to Europe, 35 years ago, this was a budget-wise and comfortable solution for a 21 year old female. Today...not so much!!!But having said that, 99% of those shared baths you encounter in Italy, Germany, France, Holland and the UK where my experience begins and ends are clean, safe and well worht the savings. You meet the nicest people in the halls...<BR><BR>

Yawn. Same question that's been debated all week on another post. General consensus seemed to be share your own. What are you saving, like $20 a night? Not worth it. Reduce expenses elsewhere.

<BR><BR>What Dave said. Only you can decide whether it's worth the savings for you. For me, it's always been worth it.<BR><BR>I understand your question about clean (and the shared baths I've used have always been clean), but I don't understand the question about safe? Have you been watching the movie &quot;Pyscho&quot; too much recently?

This is starting to get weird now. I'm here a lot and this is almost never debated. Yet in one week there have been three almost identical posts. The other two each got dozens of comments, so frankly you will get more information by just scrolling down till you come to the other threads.

Worthwhile to mention that, Patrick - - even more useful is to provide the URLs of those two recentthreads:<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&amp;tid=34390824<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&amp;tid=34390332<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>
