I have not stayed, but I have visited their public areas. It's one of the classical nice hotels in Seville, for years it was number 2 after the Alfonso XIII. It is been remodelled and the location is excellent, in the shopping district but about 5-10 minutes walk to both the historic quarter -Cathedral, Alcazar, Santa Cruz quarter-and the Triana district -old sailors quarter, with great dining and pottery workshops-.
You can see pictures and more info at www.solmelia.com .

By the way, they have great summer rates for this and other hotels, also in Madrid. Check their new Wednesday Web Weekends section, where you can get phenomenal rates for the upcoming weekend starting each wednesday at their hotels all over the world.

hi olga,
That Wed. web section is amazing. From now on, that's how I'll book the Melia Galgos in Madrid, where we usually stay at the end of our long trip-50 euros this weekend! I've never seen it that low. I found a rate of 70 euros last week for the Tryp Ambassador. If you can wait until the last minute, this can be a real money saver!
As usual, a great tip!

WE stayed there in 2001. The hotel is very old and shows some signs of wear and tear in the public areas. The first room that they gave to us had a very strong smell of the disinfectant and also did not have the one big bed as we requested. They moved us to another room which had nicer furniture and two big windows. The location was good; maybe, a bit far from the major tourist sights but still within a walking distance. They had a very good bar/cafe which spilled out on the sidewalk next to the hotel. For the price that we paid for that hotel, we got our money's worth. Of course, after staying at WEstin in Madrid we were a little bit disappointed with the public rooms of Melia Colon but then Westin Madrid is entirely in a different league.

Two other great websites with last minute options, specially for this summer:

www.ratestogo.com
www.venere.com

The first one charges a 10% as deposit, the second one is just a credit card guarantee with cancelation policy -normally 24 hours before- .

Both have incredible rates, although the hotel selection is still not very long -they are recent programs, still in the process of recruiting hotels -.
