Self-drive tour Iceland
Has anyone out there experienced a 4 day self-drive tour of Iceland> If so, could you provide me with some information.....and which car rental company was the best?

we were there for 11 days and did the circle, if only 4 you could still go the ring road with out the northwest fjords and no side trips, otherwise it depends on your wishes...waterfalls in the south with icebergs and glaciers, the journey to the center of the earth volcano to the north, both have beautiful hikes. we used budget for the car they were the cheapest and satisfied with the service, the met us at the terminal with a placard and all, have a great time wonderful country

Renting in Iceland is very expensive, i would recommend www.comparecarrentals.is the give you a good price.
But driving the circle in 4 days is to much, you wont be able to enjoy it, you will have to drive 600km a day almost.

Also thinking about a trip to Iceland. Have seen suggested itineraries for the ring road that say it takes from 5-11 days. What do you think is a good amount of time to allow? Would not want to drive more than a few hours a day. Thanks.

We did the Ring Road in 6 days.
IF you are not a hiker or kayaker, there is not much to do in the tiny towns on the Ring Road so you may as well drive and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
