Self Catering in London 'charming'

My hubbie and I are possibly finally going on our oft-delayed honeymoon in December 2004. We will be in London about 2.5 weeks, and then in Edinburgh for Hogmany.

I am on the lookout for a self-catering studio or apartment in London that has 'old worlde English' decor, i.e., tapestry fabric, dark woods, canopy beds, etc. Any suggestions? We are willing to pay up to $1500 a week for such a thing... I know that's a bit low, but we're budgeted and hopeful

Thanks in advance!

Actually you should do OK with that budget. £840 is plenty to get a high quality studio or 1 bedroom.

some sites to check include:

www.vrbo.com/11431

www.chslondon.com/vr/

www.holiday-rentals.com/

these are all privately owned and some are quite nice.

No canopy beds, but English "chintzy" decor, and great location; Beaufort House, Beaufort Gardens (Knightsbridge). Staying there makes you feel like you have your own place in London.
