When you say "flat" - - do you mean self-catering accommodation, like for a week?

Try www.domani-usa.com - - i think they have some Venice choices. Forgive me if I am wrong.

And for a week, you might want to consider Lido - - I don't recommend it for the average 1-2 night stay in Venice - - but for a week it might be worth the savings.

Best wishes,

Rex
Sue
If you do a search on this message board (function is at the top of your screen) for Venice hotel or Venice apartment or flat, you will find many recommendations, as you will by going to the Venice hotel section on this website and reading the rants and raves. There are also some very recent postings on Venice hotels for families, if you scroll down on the list at the left you will find them.
It would be helpful for more recommendations if you could say what you would like to spend.

I did have this older posting which I copied for my file:
July 2000: "Last summer my family of 5 stayed at the Hotel Bisanzio. www.bisanzio.com Originally they had reserved a room for us in the hotel - with bunk beds as part of the configuration (if I'm remembering correctly). However, when we arrived, they told us we would not be staying in the hotel, but in an apartment nearby. At first I was a little miffed because I had been pleased with the original arrangements, but when we got to the apartment it was great! It had a washer and a dryer, a kitchen (small but full), with the refrigerator, dishwasher, glasses, dishes, etc. It was a one bedroom and there were 2 twin beds in the living area. The bathroom was small but more than met our needs. It wasn't fancy, but it was cute, well appointed and clean. I believe it cost us about $260 a night. Oh yes, it was also located in a great spot - only about 300 yards from San Marco Square, and a modest but good buffet breakfast was included."
The Bisanzio is definitely included in the Venice Hotel Rants & Raves.

Here is another posting I had copied:
"We (late 1999) stayed in a apartment with Venice Rentals, their site is: venicerentals.com, it was wonderful! The owners Denise (American) and Maurizio (Venetian)were extremely helpful and their service was superb. They made reservations for us in theatres and restaurants, hired a great English speaking babysitter for us and were just like our own concierge. The apartment was gorgeous, bright and with views from everywhere and the terrace, of a historical palace dating back to 1490, it truly was an excellent value. We paid in US dollars $1200 for 7 nights, (we were 2 adults plus a 6 yr. old son) you can't beat that in any hotel and we had 1000 square feet of space! It had 2 bedrooms both with queen beds. There were 2 bathrooms, one had a tub and shower the other just the sink and toilet. We were also 3 min. behind S. Marco Square and minutes to everything in the city. We ate at an excellent restaurant, Do Forni."

While I haven't been to Venice yet, I have made great use of the website www.charmingvenice.com. You can search for a variety of residences.

There is actually a whole line of charming.com's (charmingitaly, charmingflorence...).

I will admit I didn't actually do my bookings with them, but they were great for research.

For regular hotel accommodations, Hotel FLora has 1 or 2 quad rooms available. The one we had (which supposedly was their largest room), was a good size room with a queen and 2 twins. It also had 1 1/2 baths which is nice. The hotel it very charming. Lots of good comments can be found on this board.
