Seeking info on the panoramic train from Zurich to Wengen

Hi,

My husband and I leave for Europe soon and I completely forgot to post this a few weeks back. I remember reading somewhere about a panoramic train that apparently we can take from Zurich to Wengen, however I cannot seem to locate any specific info on this. I'm sure we can ask during the 2 days we're in Zurich, but thought I'd see if any of you could provide me with any information. Thanks!

Lori

The Golden Pass panoramic trains (and others) run in segments from Zürich–Luzern–Brünig Pass–Interlaken Ost–Zweisimmen–Montreux--you would take separate trains from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen and then to Wengen. We are doing the same route this summer. Go to http://www.goldenpass.ch/GPL/main.asp.

Well, I have driven up and down the Brüig Pass and taken the train up and down it.
It is supposed to be scenic? Good to know that what I was doing - something scenic.

The train up the side of the valley to
Wengen starts to get scenic when you are high enough above the valley floor to look around.

And from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg is a pretty run on the same train. At Kleine Scheidegg, the north face of the Eiger is in view as are the Mönch and the Jungfrau. That is getting into big time scenic!!

Hey Bob Brown, I live in Switzerland and travel by car or train. I didn't know that Switzerland had names for scenic route train rides either until I started reading this forum. Except for the Glacier express, they don't advertise "scenic train routes" in Switzerland because we use most of these routes as practical ways to get to destinations. And, of course, it's all scenic.

Hi All,

Thanks for the info, this helps I am starting to get excited about our trip now (I hope I like Wengen as much as everyone says I will! I changed my original plan because of everyone's comments) and I'm sure we'll enjoy the scenic views no matter what. Thanks!
