Seeking a new "our" hotel in Paris

Hi everyone,
We will be spending eight nights in Paris in May--a particular treat because my husband is Italian, we usually travel there, and our stay in Paris will be followed by a stressful week with my declining father-in-law in Genoa. We do not want to return to the hotel we stayed in in our last visit to Paris in 2000.
Can you help us find a new "home" in the City of Light? We would like to be either in St Germain des Prix, near to the Jardin du Luxumberg, or perhaps on one of the islands. I have stayed in the Marais and enjoyed it but prefer to be near parks when we travel in a major city. Our budget is 150 to 225 (MAYBE stretching to 250) euro a night. We are currently looking at Hotel Bonaparte, Hotel du Suede, Hotel des Deux Continent, and Hotel Odeon des Saint-Germain (more $$ than we would like to spend).
We would be grateful for suggestions. In Venice "our" hotel is the Pensione Accademia, in Rome, Hotel Due Torri, in Genoa, the City Hotel Best Western, in New York, the Hotel Beacon if that helps give some idea of our tastes--which are eclectic.
Merci beaucoup

My current favorite meets your location and price:

I've stayed at Le Clément 3 times in the past two years, the staff is very helpful and the breakfast excellent. Wifi is free but can be variable and I would not book a courtyard room--dark.

Was that an intentional play on words? St Germain de Prix is a good name for it given the expensive designer shops and how expensive things are there, but you know that means St Germain of the price.

I have a couple hotels I return to in Paris, but none in St Germain, actually, or the islands, so not sure they would meet your criteria. Just places I like that I think are comfortable in several ways and good value. One is the Hotel Langlois in the 9th arrondisement, but it isn't really near a park.

Hi CM,

> We are currently looking at Hotel Bonaparte,...

We just got back from "our" Paris hotel.

Room 23 has been recently redone.

Highly recommended.

Enjoy your visit.

Christina,

I wondered the same thing since "prix" is appropriate.

I love hotel Villa Madame. I think their smaller room is in your range.

We stayed here in august. Hotel Residence Henri IV. It is a lovely small boutique hotel. they were kind enough to let us check in early. It is close to St Germaine as well as the Luxembourg gardens. Rooms have a lovely balcony.

Hi Ira,
Just to make sure I understood: Room 24 in Hotel Bonaparte?

Others: thanks for the warning about "PRIX"

Jump to the bottom of the thread and then scroll up to Dec 31,2010. In that section, I have categorized the recommended hotels, by district, and have provided websites.

Happy Travels!

Have never stayed there but I always think of it as an attractive, central and "Parisian" style hotel. Their classic room maxes at 230€. Nice courtyard, too.
