If you aim at seeing Florence, staying in Siena is not a god solution. The city of Siena is too far from Florence and you would need to drive for one hour and a half or to bus for a couple of hours just to get to Florence. There are better solutions that include several towns and villages in the Mugello area (or, closer to Florence, Fucecchio) or Pistoia if you are going to rely on trains or buses or a number of nice agritourisms and similar accomodations on the hills of Mugello and Appennini (in the provinces of Florene or Prato) if you are driving. BOth solutions will provide you accomodations in hilly ares that are cooler and quieter than Florence but far closr to the city than Siena is (30 minutes or less both by train/bus and by car).

Hi McAuley,
We have made reservations for the B&B Peterson in Florence. It is at Via Guido Monaco 25, near the train station and is about $60/nite w/ensuite bath.
