Secret covered passageways in Paris??
I saw a mention of slightly secret glass-covered passageways in Paris. There were 20 but now only 7 remain. When I go to Google maps and plug in the addresses (like 4 Rue des Petits Champs or 11 Boulevard Montmartre) , I don't see a thing that looks like a glass-covered passageway.
So they really are secret.
Anyone know of or have been to any of them??

sallyjane i wasnt being snarky - i meant try using hte word 'passages' instead of passageways. I just did a search here and come up with tonnes of hits.
Here is the one I was speaking of that is a good itinerary:

The passage at 4, rue des Petits Champs is called Galerie Vivienne. For some reason Google Maps has a problem with that address, but if you search Street View for Bistrot Vivienne, Paris, and zero in on the restaurant, and then move to the right, you will see the arched entrance to the passage just to the right. You can catch a glimpse of the glass roof through the doorway.

Passage Joffrey connects to Rue Montmartre which is an extension of Blvd. Haussmann and ofter you go through that, when you come out on the other end you can cross the street to Passage Panorama. I haven't been in them for several years, but there were lots of fun shops, a patisserie, a book store and little places to eat. I haven't been in any of the others, but they are on my list.

Here is a video but you'll see better photos if you google each one. They are not secret, most who love Paris are aware of them.

I always meander through the passages and enjoy the very unique feeling of each. It is easy to walk by many of them. Here are three short videos to give you a sense of their different characters,
Passage du Grand Cerf (don't forget to go to the upper level)

Passage du Caire,

A couple of years ago, before he got in a snit and left Fodors, Degas posted here a walk covering passages. It was truly a fun and interesting walk. If you can't find it, let me know and I will scan and send it to you as I printed it out.
