Scotland in April

My daughter and I will travelling in Scotland in April. Any suggestions on reasonable B&Bs on Skye and in Loch Lomond? We are using hostels for a part of our trip, but they are booked full on the days we will be in Skye and Loch Lochmond. Also, any must sees in Scotland and can we use British pounds there?

Our family is going to Scotland in April. We are staying in Helensburgh which is real close to Loch Lomand (just over the hill about 5miles) It is a beautiful town overlooking the Clyde river. The town has the last station on the commuter line to Glasgow and from there you can catch a train to Edinburgh. You must travel by train at least once to get where you are going fast and enjoy the scenery. From Helensburgh you could drive up through the highlands or take a train. Oban is a nice fishing village, Fort William is by the tallest mountain in GB. And Loch Ness is just up the road. Skye is real nice, signs are in Gaelic. Enjoy

There are several B&B's in Helensburgh contact Travel bureau. Also, your pounds are good in Scotland.

I would highly recommend a trip to the Isle of Mull. Travel to Oban and catch the ferry over to the island. My brother in law, Duncan MacLeod, is the owner of a beautiful little hotel in Bunessan, namely, The Argyl Arms Hotel. My nephew, Alasdair, runs the bar. In fact, Alasdair was just over visiting me last week (I'm a British expatriate living in Arizona)and showed me a brochure of their newly refurbished hotel. It looks lovely. All of the rooms are en-suite and full breakfast is included in the price (about 30 pounds per person I think). The island is home to Duart (sp?) Castle where Lord McLain is still in residence. The last time I was over there, I had the opportunity to speak with him as I was taking a tour of the Castle. This tiny island even has a golf course (very rugged). If you do have the opportunity to go over, please be sure to say hello from me!

i was in scotland last april. the weather was fantastic. had a few days around 60 with sun. a few around 50 partly cloudy. oioonly one day in 11 of rain.

highly recommend the train trip to mallaig.

by the way, ft. william is a town. ben lomond is the highest mtn in GB. form ft. william, you can take a chair lift up another mtn and see some great views of loch linne and ft. william.

i also recommend glasgow over edinburgh. check out the necropolis behing glasgow cathedral, and go for a walk in the west end.
