Scenic Train routes

We will be taking a train from Bern to Brig, Switzerland in early May. What would be a more scenic route:
1. Bern-Spiez-Brig or
2. Bern-Lausanne-Montreaux-Brig

Thanks for any advice

Sue: The one via Spiez is probably a little more scenic.
On the other hand, I love the area along the Lake of Geneva (Lausanne-Montreux). The rest of the Rhone Valley is pretty boring though.
Very difficult question to be honest.

A couple of years ago we did exactly the same thing.

We took the train from Bern to Brig via Spiez (direct). We left around 6:30PM. It was a very scenic ride. Before leaving we picked up some food in the supermarket and ate on the train.

It was the end of June. We walked around Brig, ate and when we came out of the restaurant around 10PM we could still see the sun shining on the mountain tops.

We stayed at the hotel directly across from the train station. Brig was a pleasant surprise. Zermatt was a touristic, ripoff (the train to Zermatt is very expensive about 75US). Brig was worth walking around for the evening.
