Thanks so much Pvoy, I guess I have to skip Roma ((( , The hotel TA is open and I am planning to spend first two nights there. Do have a suggested iternary, I also am think I dont want to stay in one town and drive back because of the hotel, we can go to the next town north and spend a night there. We travel very light very low profile!! When we travled to Sicily last year or so we started in Palmero and went south and east and north and ended up in Taromina so would that be possible? I just dont want to come back to a a city that I was in just becasue the hotel is there, please let me know what your thoughts are, thanks so much

My thoughts are the same as in my previous post: trying to see the whole island in 5 days is too much unless you want to spend your entire holiday in a car. I'd concentrate on one side of the island, either Cagliari-Pula-Iglesias-Bosa Alghero or Cagliari-Villasimius- Muravera-Dorgali-Nuoro and back. Or take the highway from Cagliari to Alghero and explore the North of the island (Castelsardo and Gallura) and drive back to Cagliari from Olbia (5 hours).

I agree way too much driving.
I will have a dig around and look for the sort of hotels you are looking for.
A middle market hotel is really difficult to find in Sardinia as there just isn't the visitors at tha level.
Lots of : Northern European campers, NE multi millionaires, Italians with holiday homes or renting houses. The middle market is not Sardinia's largest market.
I will have a look for hotels and yes! I think the route needs a rethink.

See www.viamichelin.com for an (optimistic) estimation of time. Allow an extra 25%¨for rest stops and/or meals.
