Santorini Honeymoon

My fiance and I are spending our honeymoon in Athens/Santorini at the end of May. Any/all suggestions on romantic spots for $150 or less to stay in Oia or Fira would be appreciated. Quality of rooms, view, hotel services and pool are important. Thanks!

Hey Tom: My wife and I spent two weeks in Santorini last May, and had a great time. Oia is much nicer than Fira, although the little village of Imeroviglio (or something like that) right near Fira is quite choice too. We stayed in a place called Chelidonia in Oia which was OK (and a bargain at like $80 per night), but we checked out several other places we'd definitely opt for next time. In Oia, the Oia Mare Villas are really nice, with a cool pool and sunset views. That would probably be my first choice. There's also a place in Oia called Perivolas which looked excellent, but I think may be beyond the $150 range. In Imerovigli, the Astra Apartments are pretty cool - right on the cliff - but book up fast. Fira itself is fun to visit in the day, but Oia is the more charming town. One thing you should be aware of is that the beaches on Santorini are not so hot, so a pool is definitely key. Santorini is a beautiful, magical island, but if you want good beaches, take the ferry to Mykonos for a few days. We did that and ended up staying for a week. (Hotel Aegean in Mykonos is great and a relative bargain). Enjoy! Ken

We stayed at the Loucas hotel in Santorini, which was divine, though for a honeymoon I might go a bit upscale....
While researching hotels a friend of mine, who also happens to be a travel agent recommended Perivolas Traditional Houses in Oia... I sent for the brochure and OH MY GOSH... stunning pool that goes right up to the edge of the caldera and was featured on the cover of Conde Nast travel magazine...it looked truly spectacular and it came highly HIGHLY recommended from my friend who stayed there on her honeymoon. It was a tad outside of our budget.. (and we actually preferred Fira since we like to be close to town) but had I been on my honeymoon I definately would have chosen Perivolas... email them and they will send you a free brochure.

Try to find Aris restaurant in Fira. This place has a great view of the caldera and some of the best Greek food I've ever had. My husband's Greek, so we have eaten alot of Greek food. The Moussaka is outstanding.
