Hi, For people who have been to Santorini what is the amount of days someone should spend in Santorini. I usually like to participate in tours and go sightseeing plus taking my own walk tour in a city. I was thinking maybe 3 to 4 days. Maybe someone here is familiar with this Island..

4 days is the minimum I'd recommend. There's a lot to see and do there. Also, it's the sort of island where you'll want to relax by the sea or in a clifftop cafe, just taking in the views and the ambience. Make sure to make time to find somewhere quiet, like Imerovigli, or at the Venetsanos Winery, where you can watch the sunset without all the crowds. Have a meal at Metaxi Mas, considered by many to be the best restaurant on the island. Have lunch at one of the fish tavernas in Amoudi Bay below Oia.

We've been there twice, it's a truly beautiful place. I'd say minimum of 3 or 4 nights but everyone is different. I'm sure some people may find that too long but I could spend hours just drinking in the views. Three nights only gives you two full days.

Sorry if this gets type twice looks like my post might not be going through. I have a limit of 8 full days. I am thinking of doing 4 full days in Athens and 4 full days in Santorini. I am the type of traveler that usually likes to stay a little longer exploring a city. Wish I could do Mykonos. Would anyone suggest maybe reducing Athens by a day. I just think Athens and Santorini alone have much to explore. Will take this opportunity since I will be fully vaccinated in the beginning of May.

For me 3 days in Athens is plenty, but to each his own. I will offer that many seasoned island travellers suggest you save all your time in Athens for the end of your trip so you have those extra days in case you have problems returning to the mainland in time for your flight home. Although rare, last minute flight cancellations and/or mechanical breakdowns do happen..

For us, three nights maximum, our least favorite place in Greece. We only returned there to visit Akrotiri when it reopened after the tragic roof collapse.

Only you will know what you'll enjoy. Some people like to travel around madly, others take the slow route. HappyTrvlr above says they wanted to see Akrotiri. We went there and spent the least amount of time possible and could not possibly recommend it. My point is, everyone is different.

You could have two days in Athens and three days each on Santorini and Mykonos. We love the Greek islands and have been to about ten, Athens is not a favourite city. Read up a bit about what there is to see and do, look at Trip Advisor forums and, importantly, check travel times between places so you can see how much time you'd actually have on the ground. Travelling between places can really eat into your day. The ferry or plane may be quick but there is all the other stuff, getting to the port, waiting for the ferry or plane, finding your hotel etc etc. (It's easier to think of how many nights, e.g. 3 nights gives you 2 full days.)

When are you planning to travel? As of April 19th, US tourists are finally allowed to travel to Greece again, but there are still restrictions for everyone, including Greeks, from travelling between prefectures. That restriction will almost certainly be lifted by summer, but I don’t have a crystal ball.

Athens and Santorini are both great for sightseeing, while Mykonos has only one beautiful town and the archaeological site on the nearby island of Delos. Most people go to Mykonos for beaches and nightlife. Were you to choose a second island, for me it would be Naxos or Paros, both on the main ferry route between Athens and Santorini. Naxos in particular has traditional mountain villages, while Santorini is mostly taken over by tourism.
